Getting Started

So, I've always watched a decent amount of TV. We didn't have rules in my house as a kid about how many hours we could watch a week or anything like that. But we didn't overdo it back then either. I watched Saturday morning cartoons, Little House on the Prairie after school, and The Cosby Show on Thursday nights. But, because I went to half-day kindergarten, I also remember watching Soap Operas with my mom (Days of Our Lives and Guiding Light specifically), and I continued that into my college years. I used to record them in college (onto good 'ol VHS tapes) and would have stacks to go through.

I was also an extremeley avid reader, but as I've gotten older, I have watched more and more TV and read less (though I do still do it and I still love it). I think it all really began in the days of Dawson's Creek (I was a Dawson supporter until the very end I'm afraid--now I lean in more of a Pacey direction) and Felicity (NOEL! Come on, she should have been with NOEL!!!!!) West Wing--I love a good boys' club kind of feeling--and Gilmore Girls. I've tried to get away from the teenage dramas, and while I've escaped a few (never watched Gossip Girl for instance), I'm addicted to them like crack, but in a much healthier, safer way.

A few years ago, as I was rattling off Friends' episodes from memory and talking about how the guy that was on X last night was the kid from XX 15 years ago, a friend of mine suggested that I start a website with synopses of shows. I just laughed it off. But here we are, years later, and once again the idea was planted at a dinner a few nights ago. So why the heck not, right? I like to watch, I like to write, I figured I'd give it a go.

So, come check in once in a while, see what I have to say about your favorite show last week. As I say in my disclaimer, don't expect daily updates. I'm not E! with a team of people getting paid to do this. I'm a mom with a DVR. And I know how to use it! Feel free to comment on what you'd like to see added here, or if you find grammar and spelling mistakes! But, let's keep it nice and happy, shall we? It's TVLand after all, we don't need no stinkin' real life drama!
